Stakhanov is proud to announce its brand new podcasting venture: Between the Lines with Melissa Reddy. Between The Lines is a podcast that talks to the biggest names in football to discuss the behind the scenes subjects most interesting to fans.
Between the Lines is hosted by journalist Melissa Reddy, the Independent’s senior football correspondent. Melissa is an experienced football journalist, who contributes regularly to the likes of BBC Radio 5 Live, Premier League Productions and Sky Sports. She also hosted a three-part podcast for Stakhanov’s Football Ramble about the return of the Premier League amidst the coronavirus pandemic. “We're delighted to be working with Melissa on her own show this season, especially after the fantastic job she did hosting our 'Return of the Premier League' series back in June,” says Charlie Morgan, Executive Producer for football content at Stakhanov, “This new podcast will give listeners unrivalled insight into some of the game's biggest and most exciting names – you won't get access like this anywhere else in football podcasting!”
From Premier League managers attempting to coach their team while dealing with personal tragedy to the thorny subject of online abuse and trolls, and from world-class footballers pursuing other interests away from the game, or attempting to bounce back from career-threatening injury, listeners will learn something new in every episode. “The aim of the podcast is to inform, provide greater understanding on the people and elements around the game as well as to showcase a different side to players, managers and important subject matter,” Melissa explains, “I think this comes across immediately from episode one, which features an exclusive chat with Mauricio Pochettino and Jesus Perez. I’m so excited for the audience to hear their thoughts and everything else we have coming up over the season.”
Kicking things off with style, the first episode of Between the Lines with Melissa Reddy features an exclusive interview with former Tottenham, Southampton and Espanyol manager Mauricio Pochettino and his trusted assistant, Jesus Perez. In this intimate discussion, the pair discuss how their professional and personal lives have changed since leaving Spurs, reveal the important factors they'll consider when choosing their next club, and underline why a human touch is central to their approach. Mauricio and Jesus also share their reaction to watching Spurs' new All Or Nothing documentary, and their surprise at only featuring in the first 25 minutes of episode one.
